/ FAQ

They're built for different jobs and happen to work well together. Node.js is well suited to handling API requests, background processing and real-time data efficiently, while React specialises in building fast, interactive interfaces. Using them together lets each do what it's best at, rather than compromising on one framework that does everything adequately but nothing particularly well.

It scales in both directions. A small integration or API doesn't need enterprise-level infrastructure to benefit from a well-built Node.js backend, and starting with a solid foundation early is usually cheaper than migrating off a quick fix later once the business has outgrown it.

A CMS or theme platform is built around a plugin and template ecosystem, which is fast to get started with but has real limits once your business needs custom pricing logic, complex integrations or workflows the platform wasn't designed for. A custom build has no such ceiling, at the cost of needing proper development rather than configuration.

Security is built into the architecture itself rather than bolted on afterwards, through secure authentication, input validation, dependency monitoring, and infrastructure-level protection like a web application firewall. It's a different model to CMS security, which relies heavily on keeping plugins updated, but it's not inherently less secure when built properly.

This is a fair concern with any custom build, and it's why we insist on structured codebases, full documentation and clean version control as standard practice, not an optional extra. A well-documented Node.js and React platform can be picked up by another competent developer; a poorly documented one becomes a liability regardless of who built it.

It depends on the platform, but gradual migration is often possible, particularly with a headless approach where the front-end is rebuilt first while the backend continues serving data, or vice versa. We assess this during discovery rather than assuming a full rebuild is the only option.

Beyond uptime, we look at Core Web Vitals, API response times under real load, and error rates in production, with centralised logging and monitoring in place from day one. Performance isn't a one-off launch metric, it's something we keep watching as usage grows.
